I recently had the chance to try out Tyler's Regular Acid Free Coffee. I love coffee, but quite often coffee doesn't love me... if you get my drift. For this reason, I was really excited to give Tyler's Coffee a good solid go. Tyler's Coffee is made from South American Arabica beans and then brought to their roasting facility in Arizona. They use a special computerized process, called the Z-roasting process, that allows for high levels of caffeine (yay!) while at the same time creating an acid free coffee (even bigger YAY!). The benefits of an acid free coffee are less tooth enamel wear, and less stomach issues for those with sensitive stomachs.
I made a pot for myself since hubby decided to forgo helping me with this review, and put in my usual sugar and cream. Honestly, I didn't really care for the taste. It was... different. I wouldn't exactly say it was an aftertaste, and the overall boldness was great. (I like my coffee STRONG.) Maybe I'm just picky, but I can usually down any sort of flavor and brand of coffee without batting an eye at the difference in taste. I set my mug down, and tried it again about 30 minutes later, after it had cooled off. I usually never manage to finish and actual cup of coffee before it gets cold anyway. This time around I liked the flavor of the coffee better at room temperature. I would probably recommend Tyler's Coffee cold over ice. That different taste that came out while it was hot, seemed to disappear, or at least decrease the colder it got. I may have also made the coffee a little too strong. I made 6/7 cups with the 2oz package I received instead of the recommended 10 cups.
If you are looking for a substitute for your usual coffee because of a sensitive stomach, I think this is a decent substitute. It's certainly much better than the stomach pain I've suffered with other brands of coffee. At the very least it's worth a try! I did enjoy what seemed to be an additional boost of energy which is probably due to their roasting process and higher levels of caffeine.
I didn't get to try the decaffeinated version, however Tyler's Coffee says they use a Swiss Water Based process to decaffeinate the coffee and use NO chemicals! If something is chemical free, it is definitely worth a try just for that fact alone.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
As Ive said before, I jump at the chance to try new healthy products. This time, I've had the opportunity to try out Superfood Snack's Brazilian Chocolate Ecstasy raw chocolate snacks! These babies are 100% raw, certified organic, made without gluten, and are hand crafted.
I had a certain expectation of what the snacks would taste like, probably because I've never tried anything that was actually made with raw chocolate. Unlike some of the products I've reviewed in the past, EVERYTHING in the Brazilian Chocolate Ecstasy snacks is raw. Which is great, but the first time I tried it, let me just say I was caught off guard.
The size of the nuggets, or so I thought, are perfect for just one bite. I popped one into my mouth and chomped down, and was overwhelmed with the taste of cacao that is dusted on the outside of this particular variety. Then it became a little tangy, and I thought, "Well, that's it. I don't like it." However, I decided to give the product a fair and fighting chance to get back onto my good side. I gave it a few more weeks before I decided to give them another try. The second time I broke into the bag, I decided to take smaller bites. For me, this was the key to actually enjoying the snack! That, and the fact that I understood how they were supposed to taste. The chewy texture became enjoyable because I wasn't overwhelmed with flavor, and the raw chocolate, and the dusting of cacao actually enhanced the overall flavor instead of overwhelming it. I took another bite, and this time I was able to pick up on the brazil nuts, and some of the fruits; especially the mango and the coconut. Then I tried another... and then another. Before I knew it, the entire bag was gone, and I hadn't taken a picture! (Oops.)
So what healthy awesomeness is in this product?
Agave Nectar, Brazil Nuts, Cacao Power, Dried Mango, Hunza Raisins, Coconut, Dates, Dried Bananas, Incan Berries, Chia Seeds, Maca Powder, Vanilla Powder, Cinnamon, Selina Naturally (I'm not sure what this is), and Hawaiian Deep Sea Salt. The only ingredients not marked as organic are the Selina Naturally and the Hawaiian Deep Sea Salt.
What is NOT in this product?
Wheat, Gluten, Dairy, Rice, Soy, Corn, Fillers, or Refined Sugars.
Another thing that I really liked, is that Superfood Snacks not only are very health conscious, but are eco-conscious as well. Their packaging is made from biodegradable materials! Personally I think that this is a very nice touch, and want to give major kudos! Superfood Snacks is not just a random mash of ingredients either. There is a solid purpose and intent behind everything that goes into their nuggets. According to their packaging, they have spent years researching why these ingredients are highly valued by so many cultures, and used in various traditions, around the world.
Their packaging also says they are an "exotic meal replacement". I don't think I'd go that far (because I really really love eating), however these are a great snack to carry with you, or even have in the house, so when you're feeling hungry or need a boost of energy, you can snack on one or two nuggets (or more), and know that you're putting something super healthy into your body instead of reaching for chips or other highly processed foods filled with fats and sugars. Overall I think this is a product that people should, at the very least, give a good solid try. Just because I didn't like it the first time I tried it, doesn't mean it should deter you from trying something new, because now, I obviously enjoy them. And while I may like the taste of chips and fried foods better, this is a snack I would happily replace those foods with.
Superfood Snacks also come in three other varieties: Chocolate Cherry Qi, Chocolate Goji Treats, and Green Chocolate Dream. To learn more about these specific varieties you can visit their website [HERE].
Superfood Snacks would love for you to find them on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube too! They have also very generously offered up two bags of their Brazilian Chocolate Ecstasy nuggets for a giveaway. (Everybody chime in! Thank you Superfood Snacks!) This will go live sometime between 01/22 and 01/23 so keep your eyes peeled.

How does one describe a condiment: simple, yummy, delicious, flavorful? None of these words begin to describe the amazing, mouthwatering, epically satisfying condiment I had the utmost pleasure of trying. I can say with absolute honesty that I have found my new favorite condiment - Skillet Bacon Jam! Oh my gosh, I'm salivating just thinking about it... Mmmmm.
"...a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, savory and slightly sweet….basically spreadable bacony goodness." ~ Skillet
I requested to review this product from Skillet, thinking that this would be right up my husband's alley. I figured he'd be all over it, and love it more than I would. I mean, Bacon Jam sounds a bit odd when you think about it. I was picturing something along the lines of a jam/mayo texture and consistency. It wasn't. Skillet Bacon Jam is almost like a chutney consistency... almost. It's sweet, full of flavor, and tastes amazing on everything. I was so excited to try it, I don't think I did it justice. I ate it with my pizza, and dipped chips in it, and yet it was STILL so, SO good! While eating it I was imagining all the things I could replace ever other condiment I use with Bacon Jam - burgers, hotdogs, Italian bread, pizza, veggies... Oops there I go daydreaming again. This is one of those times I was appreciating the face that my husband and I have very different tastes in food. He's more of a "salty" person, and I like many of my foods sweet. For him the Bacon Jam was a little too sweet. That's fine. He can stick with ketchup. I'm more than happy to keep this product all to myself! (When it comes to sharing food... I turn into a 2 year old, run into the other room screaming, "Mine!")
Located in Seattle, Original Skillet Bacon Jam was created in 2007 by Chef Josh Henderson. Since then, Fennel & Black Pepper Bacon Spread has been created as well as Skillet Pumpkin Sauces that come in Chipotle, Brown Sugar & Vinegar, and Thai Coconut flavors. The Original Skillet Bacon Jam is made with cured bacon, onion, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and a small variety of spices. Bacon Jam is USDA approved, and it does not need to be refrigerated until after opening, and lasts for several months. However, if you love this product as much as I do, you won't have to worry about it going bad. It will be GONE!
In addition to their awesome condiments, Skillet opened a restaurant in Seattle's Capitol Hill area, and has branched out into the catering business! To order online visit their [STORE]. For more information about their products and services, please feel free to contact them at email@example.com

I'm always looking for new healthy products to snack on during the day. I'm sure I've said before that I often forget to make myself breakfast and lunch, so having a stash of healthy snacks is a definite must. Luckily for me, I was able to review a whole bunch of great snacks from Boundless Nutrition!
Boundless Nutrition is a family owned and operated business that manufactures their products in the USA. They currently manufacture and sell their Oatmega 3 Wellness Bars, and their Perfect FIT Protein Cookies. Boundless Nutrition sent me a box with all four flavors of Oatmega 3 Wellness Bars, and their three flavors Perfect FIT Protein Cookies. I snacked on the Dark Chocolate Mint, and Mocha bars before I was able to snap a photograph, but this is the majority of what was sent. (Whoops!)
I first opened up the dark chocolate mint Oatmega 3 bar to try for myself, but I only got a bite in before my daughter snatched it away from me. But, from the bite I did get, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the texture and flavor! I get a little skeptical when something tells me it tastes great, yet it's so healthy for me it has all of the nutrients of a small meal. Now, I'm by no means a health "nut", and I'm definitely not a picky eater. I'll just about scarf down anything you throw in front of me with a few small exceptions. I will admit that there are a few other health bars I enjoy more, but when you take into consideration that the Oatmega 3 Wellness Bars have 50% less sugar than the average bars out there, I'm not going to complain. In addition the Oatmega 3 Wellness Bars are high in omega-3 fatty acids, are high on fiber, and include all the antioxidants that you'd receive from drinking three cups of green tea. Ingredients are all natural and many are organic. With that being said, these nutrition bars taste great!
I think my favorite was the Mocha flavor, but the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter was really yummy too. I haven't tried the Blueberry Pomegranate Crunch one yet. The only big difference I noticed nutritional wise is that the Blueberry Pomegranate Crunch bar contains 100mg less of Omega 3, 2g less of Hormone-Free Whey Protein, and a cup less of Green Tea. Overall that particular bar is 70 calories less.
Next I tried the Perfect FIT Protein Cookies. I had a bite of the Chocolate Chip cookie, and I have to say it wasn't my favorite. The texture was OK. It was dense and chewy, but I didn't care overly much for the flavor. However, my daughter ate it and didn't seem to care that it was a protein cookie. Then I gave my husband the Peanut Butter cookie to try. I had a bite of it and I thought it was a lot better than the chocolate chip. He really liked it. "Compared to other protein/health bars and cookies, I have to say that these are pretty good!" Huzzah! I found something new my husband will eat. (Remember how I said I'm not a picky eater... that is not the case with him.) He also said the protein bars/cookies he's had in the past make him feel sick and they taste worse the more you eat them.
The Perfect FIT Protein cookies are really soft, gluten free, and only 150 calories! They also do not contain any soy, wheat or eggs, and. They too are all natural and contain no genetically modified ingredients. However they are manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts, eggs, treenuts, soy and wheat.
If you're looking for a healthy snack for whatever reason, I would definitely recommend Boundless Nutrition products. They would love for you to connect with them on Facebook and Twitter. Also, they were awesome enough to offer up a box of 12 bars or cookies as a giveaway! The giveaway will run midnight 01/01/12 to 01/07/12 so make sure you check back during those times to enter.

Raise your hand if you have a picky eater in the house! My two-year-old daughter is the pickiest eater you'll ever meet. Her diet generally consists of mac and cheese, chicken fingers, chop suey, and spaghetti. Yup, that's right. She eats basically ZERO veggies unless I successfully hide them in her food, and let's be honest, that just about never happens. That's why I was super excited for the chance to try out KidFresh meals!
What's so great about them? They are conveniently packaged, frozen, 100% natural meals for your kiddos with hidden vegetables! (No artificial coloring, flavors, or preservatives.) My daughter had no idea she was eating carrots in the meals that I picked out for her to try. This is absolutely amazing because I have never EVER convinced her to eat a carrot in her life. Usually trying to force her to eat her veggies causes a food fight, but this time it was a breeze.
I first had to check to see if any of my local or semi-local supermarkets carried KidFresh meals. Thankfully a Shaws a few towns over did. So, I packed up the kiddos and made the trek over. Unfortunately the freezer only had two out of the six varieties of KidFresh meals, but it worked out because they were the two I figured she'd probably like the best. We grabbed the Wagon Wheel Macaroni and Cheese, and the Muy Cheesy Quesadillas.
If you're like me, you buy frozen meals to have just in case no one feels like cooking one night. And you KNOW that the picture on the box really looks nothing like what you're actually going to get once you open it, and then cook it. But, we eat it anyway because we're hungry. The first thing I did when I got home was take the meals out of their boxes to really get a feel of what they are. I have to say seeing actual shredded cheese on the Wagon Wheel Mac and Cheese was rather impressive! I kind of expected only a cheese sauce, or just a big frozen mash of grossness. And the Quesadillas are pretty good sized. My two year old who eats constantly (when she feels like it) couldn't even finish both of them.
Another thing I really liked was that these meals microwave very quickly, and you don't have to do the whole "tear off the cover over ___" and "poke holes on this side", "stir halfway through"... yadda yadda yadda. The instructions were very simple. For the varieties we picked you only had to pull back the plastic covering just a smidge, or place the food on a microwaveable dish. SO easy, and when you have 1,000 things going on a quick easy meal is great, especially one you know is healthy.
My daughter is one of those kids who refuses to put anything new in her mouth unless it has chocolate on it. So, after I fed her a few bites, I handed her the reigns... well the fork, and she took over from there. I believe her exact word(s) were "Mmmmm!" (That's a good sign she likes something.)
Of course being the mooch that I am, I sneaked in a few bites myself. I have to say it was pretty darn good! It wasn't ridiculously salty like many frozen meals are, the cheese was good, and I could see why she was full before she was done. Definitely a thumbs up in my book.
KidFresh wants you to know these other great aspects to their meals:

One lucky DealPeddler reader will have a chance to try out 2 KidFresh meals! Well, I mean I hope you'll give them to your kids, but I suppose you could eat them. Just check out their store locator [HERE].

I'm a big fan of healthy food. A BIG fan. I like knowing that what I am putting into my body is good for it. I feel better about myself, and in the end my body thanks me. I hope you feel the same way, because this review is for the Raw Crunch Bars. Yummm!
I was lucky enough to get in contact with Kathy, one of the creators of the Raw Crunch Bar. The "No Artificial Nothin'" slogan really had caught my eye and I decided their product was something I HAD to try. Normally what I find to be "healthy" still has a list of ingredients I cannot pronounce and have no hope of ever doing so. Kathy was kind enough to offer me an assorted box of Raw Crunch Bars to try out in order to write this review. She went the extra mile and sent THREE of each flavor. I actually asked her if part of that was for the giveaway, and she told me to "eat up". (It has taken every ounce of my being to not eat every last bar before posting the review since I wanted to get pictures of them. Yeah... that's all the Raw Crunch Bars I had left by the time I got to take the photo.)
Immediately I opened the box, grabbed the first bar my hand landed on and took a BIG bite. Initially I was a little confused by the texture. The crunch bars are definitely crunchy, but I wouldn't exactly call them "hard". After I scarfed the first one down, I decided to check out the ingredient list. After all, they did say there was nothing artificial in it. They didn't lie! I could pronounce every single ingredient they used. And, the best part was that every single ingredient is organic and uncooked. There really is no added sugar either, at least no processed sugar. Every bar is held together and sweetened with raw honey, berries, or chocolate (the only non-raw ingredient). Every ingredient, because it is uncooked, has maintained all nutritional value as well. You'll find on their site that all ingredients are ordered fresh every week, and are certified organic by DPI-Clemson University. All Raw Crunch bars are gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, and peanut-free, AND will maintain their freshness for 5 months! (There is no way you'll have these bars just sitting around in your house for 5 months before someone has devoured them.)
OK, to be honest, the one bar I was a little nervous to try was the blueberry one. I'm not a huge fan of blueberry flavored things. Usually the taste is overwhelming and masks every other flavor. I'm glad I tried it though. I thought it was just as good as the others, even the chocolate variety. And that's saying quite a bit since I'm a self proclaimed choc-a-holic. My favorite ingredients were the cashews and the macadamia nuts! Then again, those are the nuts that I'll eat first out of a mixed container.
The other flavors in addition to the chocolate and blueberry are cranberry and goji berry. I'm still not sure what a goji berry is exactly, but that was delicious too. Actually, that was the first one I had tried. I couldn't convince my husband to jump on the Raw Crunch Bar bandwagon. Which is interesting, because he keeps asking for bites whenever I'm eating one.
Well, that's it. That's what I thought. I personally would suggest anyone try them. I'm a busy mom, and sometimes sitting down for a real meal is not exactly the easiest task during the day. This is definitely something I could snack on during the day without feeling guilty. Also, Raw Crunch Bars would love for you to find them on Twitter, Facebook, and Blogspot! They have also provided me with a discount code to share with you should you choose to order from them online. If you use the code BLOG1 you'll receive 10% off your purchase! (If you use this, please make sure to thank them.)
There IS in fact a giveaway that goes along with this review. Kathy has agreed to giveaway a variety box of Raw Crunch Bars! All you have to do is head on over to the Rafflecopter form and enter [HERE]. I will contact the winner when the review ends for their mailing address, and a wonderful box of Raw Crunch Bars will be on its way!
