Skillet – Original Bacon Jam Review
How does one describe a condiment: simple, yummy, delicious, flavorful? None of these words begin to describe the amazing, mouthwatering, epically satisfying condiment I had the utmost pleasure of trying. I can say with absolute honesty that I have found my new favorite condiment - Skillet Bacon Jam! Oh my gosh, I'm salivating just thinking about it... Mmmmm.
"...a perfect blend of smoky, tangy, savory and slightly sweet….basically spreadable bacony goodness." ~ Skillet
I requested to review this product from Skillet, thinking that this would be right up my husband's alley. I figured he'd be all over it, and love it more than I would. I mean, Bacon Jam sounds a bit odd when you think about it. I was picturing something along the lines of a jam/mayo texture and consistency. It wasn't. Skillet Bacon Jam is almost like a chutney consistency... almost. It's sweet, full of flavor, and tastes amazing on everything. I was so excited to try it, I don't think I did it justice. I ate it with my pizza, and dipped chips in it, and yet it was STILL so, SO good! While eating it I was imagining all the things I could replace ever other condiment I use with Bacon Jam - burgers, hotdogs, Italian bread, pizza, veggies... Oops there I go daydreaming again. This is one of those times I was appreciating the face that my husband and I have very different tastes in food. He's more of a "salty" person, and I like many of my foods sweet. For him the Bacon Jam was a little too sweet. That's fine. He can stick with ketchup. I'm more than happy to keep this product all to myself! (When it comes to sharing food... I turn into a 2 year old, run into the other room screaming, "Mine!")
Located in Seattle, Original Skillet Bacon Jam was created in 2007 by Chef Josh Henderson. Since then, Fennel & Black Pepper Bacon Spread has been created as well as Skillet Pumpkin Sauces that come in Chipotle, Brown Sugar & Vinegar, and Thai Coconut flavors. The Original Skillet Bacon Jam is made with cured bacon, onion, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and a small variety of spices. Bacon Jam is USDA approved, and it does not need to be refrigerated until after opening, and lasts for several months. However, if you love this product as much as I do, you won't have to worry about it going bad. It will be GONE!
In addition to their awesome condiments, Skillet opened a restaurant in Seattle's Capitol Hill area, and has branched out into the catering business! To order online visit their [STORE]. For more information about their products and services, please feel free to contact them at eat@skilletstreetfood.com
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
